The Brief

External door in the hall to be replaced with fireplace

The property features a striking entrance hall and dining room, but the clients rarely used the space due to heating challenges. They wanted a high-output fireplace that complemented the room’s character while serving as a focal point visible from the main entrance. However, the wood-clad walls and roof construction posed a significant challenge.

Firehouse designed a fireplace within the old external doorway, selecting the Dru Maestro 75 Tall for its elegant design and exceptional efficiency. Installing the gas supply required excavating and reinstating 30 meters of brick paving. The team then removed the aging door, sealed the opening for insulation, and built a framework to protect the surrounding woodwork. Once operational, Firehouse & Bluestone crafted a bespoke marble surround with hidden ventilation and maintenance hatches, seamlessly blending function and style.
